๐ก Topper Strategy - How to Crack Teaching Exams
1
Child Development & Pedagogy is the most important section - CDP carries 30 marks in every TET paper and is unique to teaching exams. Master theories of Piaget, Vygotsky, and Kohlberg - these repeat every year.
2
Subject knowledge determines your rank - For Paper II (Upper Primary / TGT level), your subject-specific section carries 60 marks. Go deep into your chosen subject - Maths, Science, Social Studies, or Languages.
3
Language sections are easy marks - Hindi and English language papers test basic grammar and comprehension at Class 6โ8 level. With 2โ3 weeks of focused practice, you can score 25+/30 in both language papers.
4
CTET certificate is lifelong now - Since 2021, CTET certificates have no expiry date. Clearing CTET once opens doors to KVS, NVS, Army School, and all central government teaching jobs permanently.
5
Attempt both Paper 1 and Paper 2 - Most serious aspirants appear for both CTET papers simultaneously. Paper 1 (Primary) and Paper 2 (Upper Primary) have overlapping sections and parallel preparation saves time.
6
Previous year papers are the best resource - CTET and state TET questions repeat in patterns. Solve last 10 years of PYQs before anything else - at least 40% of questions come from similar question banks.
โ Frequently Asked Questions - Teaching Exams
Most searched questions about Teaching & Eligibility exams answered by our experts
Yes, CTET is mandatory for teaching in central government schools including KVS (Kendriya Vidyalayas), NVS (Navodaya Vidyalayas), Army Schools, and schools in Union Territories. Clearing CTET Paper 1 qualifies you to teach Class 1โ5 and CTET Paper 2 qualifies you for Class 6โ8. Since 2021, the CTET certificate is valid for a lifetime - no renewal required. Many state governments also accept CTET score in lieu of their own state TET.
CTET (Central TET) is conducted by CBSE and is valid for teaching in central government schools across India. State TETs like UPTET, REET, Bihar TET, and MPTET are conducted by respective state governments and are valid only for teaching jobs in that particular state's government schools. If you want to teach in KVS or NVS, you need CTET. If you want to teach in UP government schools, you need UPTET. Many aspirants clear both for maximum opportunities.
A KVS TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) earns a Basic Pay of โน44,900 (Level 7). Including DA, HRA, and other allowances, the in-hand salary ranges from โน55,000 to โน72,000 per month depending on the posting city. KVS PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) earns Basic Pay of โน47,600 (Level 8) with in-hand of โน60,000โโน80,000. KVS PRT (Primary Teacher) starts at Level 6 (โน35,400 Basic Pay). All KVS teachers also receive pension, medical benefits, and children education allowance.
CTET has no limit on attempts - you can appear as many times as you wish. There is also no upper age limit for appearing in CTET. The exam is conducted twice a year (usually July and December). This means a candidate can keep attempting until they clear. Since the certificate is now lifelong, clearing once is all you need. For state TETs like UPTET and REET, age limits apply for teaching appointments but usually not for appearing in the eligibility test itself.
UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) is conducted by NTA and qualifies candidates for Assistant Professor positions in colleges and universities, and for the JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) which provides a monthly stipend for PhD research. Any candidate with a Post Graduate degree with minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC) is eligible. There is no age limit for Assistant Professor eligibility. For JRF, the upper age limit is 30 years (relaxable for reserved categories). UGC NET is the primary route to a college teaching career in India.
For CTET Paper 2 (Class 6โ8), a Bachelor's degree with B.Ed is mandatory. For CTET Paper 1 (Class 1โ5), D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) or B.Ed is required. Most state TETs follow similar eligibility norms. However, candidates in the final year of B.Ed or D.El.Ed can also appear provisionally - subject to completing the degree before appointment. UGC NET does not require B.Ed - it only needs a PG degree in the relevant subject.
CTET is a necessary but not sufficient condition for KVS teaching. You need a valid CTET score plus you must appear separately in the KVS recruitment exam (written test + interview) when KVS announces vacancies. The KVS exam has its own syllabus covering Teaching Methodology, Subject Knowledge, General English, Hindi, and Reasoning. CTET just makes you eligible to apply - the actual selection happens through the KVS written test. Similarly for NVS, you need CTET plus the NVS recruitment exam.
Teaching & Eligibility Tests 2025 - Everything You Need to Know
Teaching is one of India's most respected and stable government careers. Exams like CTET, KVS, NVS, UGC NET, UPTET, REET, Bihar TET, and MPTET open doors to government teaching jobs across central and state schools and colleges. A government teaching job offers excellent salary, pension, summer vacations, and the satisfaction of nation building - making it one of the most sought-after careers for graduates with B.Ed degrees.
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), conducted twice a year by CBSE, is the gateway to teaching in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, Army Schools, and schools in Union Territories. Since 2021, the CTET certificate carries lifetime validity - clearing it once is all you need. State TETs like UPTET (Uttar Pradesh), REET (Rajasthan), Bihar TET, and MPTET (Madhya Pradesh) serve a similar purpose for their respective state government school systems.
Most teaching eligibility tests share a common structure: Child Development & Pedagogy, Language (Hindi & English), and Subject Knowledge (Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, or Languages). This overlap means CTET preparation directly helps with UPTET, REET, and other state TETs. Our 2,500+ free Teaching mock tests - paper-wise, section-wise, and full-length - cover CDP theories, pedagogy concepts, subject knowledge, and language sections in both Hindi and English, giving you a complete preparation toolkit at zero cost.
