JEE (Advanced) Reservation Of Seats for admission to IITs

In  the IIT institutes all over the country for which the JEE (Advanced) examinations are conducted government has reserved certain number seats for candidates of certain categories. The details are as follows:

Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) - Other Backward Classes– 27% of seats in every course offered by any IIT. The backward class should be listed in the central list of OBCs released by the government on http://www.ncbc.nic.

If the Candidates is belonging to the creamy layer of OBC are then they are not entitled for any reservation. Such candidates are considered as belonging to the general (GEN) (i.e., unreserved) category.

Other reservation details are as follows :

• Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15% of seats in every course.

• Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5% of seats in every course.

• Persons with Disability (PwD) – 3% of seats in every category, viz., GEN, OBC- NCL, SC and ST.

Please note that the benefit of reservation will be given  to  those  who  have  at  minimum 40%  impairment regardless of the type of disability i.e., locomotor, visual or dyslexic. Leprosy-cured candidates who are otherwise fit to pursue the course are also included in this sub-category.

If the candidate belongs to the OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories then he/ she will be declared as qualified on the basis of a relaxed criterion

If after the reservation process still there are unfilled seats in the OBC-NCL category then the seats can be allotted to general (GEN) category candidates whereas seats remaining vacant under the SC and ST categories shall not be allotted to candidates belonging to other categories

The candidate has to choose the category at the time of filling up the registration form and no changes are entertained after the form has been submitted.

Candidates who are not Indian nationals will not be covered under the reservation process.
