Class 7 English All Chapters Worksheet Pdf

SECTION A – UNSEEN PASSAGES AND POEMS

Determiners are those words that modify nouns or noun phrases. They are placed before nouns.

Examples:-. the, my, that, each etc.
Articles - There are three articles - a, an and the.
'A' and 'an' are indefinite articles
'The' is definite article
Uses of article 'A'

* Before common noun beginning with consonant sound.
Ex:- a cat, a house

* Singular countable noun a pen, a class
Uses of article 'An'

* before a word beginning with vowel sound.
Ex.:- an eagle, an honest man

* Before abbreviations
Ex.:- an M.B.A. , an F.I.R.
Uses of article 'THE'

* Before a particular person/ thing.
Ex.:- The lady whom I met is no more.

* Before common noun unique of their kind.
Ex.:-The woman should be empowered.

* Before the superlative degree.
Ex.:- Diamond is the hardest metal of all.

* Before the names of rivers, seas, oceans, newspapers, holy books, races, religions, known buildings etc.
Ex :- I know to play the harmonium.
*Bible is the holy book of Christians.

OMISSION OF 'THE' Article
We don't use it :-

* Before proper nouns
* Before the names of languages, art, subjects, diseases
Ex.:- Cancer is a deadly disease.

* Malayalam is spoken in Kerala.
* Before the names of material
Ex.:- we wear cotton clothes in summer.

* Before abstract noun
Ex.:- Beauty is admired by all.

* Before common nouns
Ex.:- Mother cooks the food for the family.

* Before uncountable nouns
Ex.:- Tea is grown in Assam.
Quantifiers are those words which help us talk about Quantity without our mentioning quantity in exact terms.
Examples:- some, any, much, every, a few etc

1. Read the following passage and answer the following :
 
If you have been a fan of science-fiction or want to learn how it feels like to be around robots, this restaurant in Bengaluru should be your go-to place. Bengaluru just got its first Robot Restaurant, which features Indo- Asian cuisine and robots serve food to customers.
 
The restaurant located on Indira Nagar’s high street 100 Feet Road has capacity to accommodate 50 diners at a time. With a team of six robots (1 usher and 5 bearers), the restaurant has been designed in such a manner that there is extra space between the aisles so as to provide enough space for the robots to navigate. So how do you order your food here? Every table has a digital tablet, which the customers have to operate, choose a dish from the menu, and then place the order. Once your food is ready, the kitchen assigns a robot to deliver the food.
 
Referring to this development, Founder of the restaurant, Venkatesh Rajendran, said that these Android robots have been designed to greet the visitors at the entrance, and guide them to their tables; they also come equipped with a built-in facial recognition technology. Further, the robots have been programmed in a manner that will sing birthday wishes in case there is a special occasion. Chennai is home to the country's first-ever robot restaurant, which was launched in 2017. The restaurant registered huge success which eventually prompted founder Venkatesh Rajendran to expand the business to other places. Also, to add on to the futuristic experience, guests will be served starters and soups in mini trains that will chug on mini tracks.

1. Read the following passage and answer the following : 
 
How many of you have heard of the oldest living tree species on Earth? Well if you haven’t, Bristlecone Pine (Pinus longaeva) trees, native to southern United States, are the oldest trees on the planet; by oldest we mean, around 5000 years old. Yes, you read that correct! These trees must have seen around for many decades, must have borne many natural calamities, yet survived the test of time.
 
Today, they stand still and healthy, and people from far and near visit them to understand the mystery behind their super long existence. You can find these in the higher mountains of the southwest United States, where they grow in
isolated groves. If you want to check out the oldest of them, you’ll have to visit Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains of California. Here, you will be surrounded by the oldest living organisms in the world. The life of these trees has been estimated to be more than 5,000 years, which is no less a wonder!
 
These trees grow till 5,000 and 10,000 ft, and at such great heights, Bristlecone pines keep up through horrendous temperature and weather. Also the wind blows constantly in the region and the soil turns too dry because of less rainfall. Given these conditions, the Bristlecone pines grow slowly compared to other trees, and in some trees, the growth is negligible, it is that slow.
